Residents, Merchants Brave Rain to “Keep It Local”
The May 26, 2009 Highland Park Neighborhood Association General Meeting Provided Residents with an opportunity to meet local merchants. Thad Schofield and Bret Garwood of the city’s newly reorganized Bureau of Business and Housing Development emphasized that department’s mission of promoting the growth of city businesses by highlighting various grant programs.
During their presentation, it became evident that a number of home-based businesses reside in the Highland Park Neighborhood. An open discussion revealed that the neighborhood may benefit from shared office space that could support these homegrown enterprises.
After updates from SEAC, ESCAPE, and BASWA, a mingle session allowed residents to peruse merchants’ wares and provided an opportunity for local business owners to network.
